The Brothers

Andrew and Chris LeDrew were raised on their father’s record collection, and it’s evident when listening to their music. The Beatles, The Who and Bob Dylan lit a fire in the brothers from an early age, and their sound and writing style are reminiscent of these pioneers of rock and roll. Andrew and Chris consider themselves keepers of the flame, preserving the integrity of classic pop while striving to take it in a new direction through the originality of their songwriting. This passion is also felt on stage, when the brothers sing their songs with bite and conviction. Their harmonies, fast becoming their trademark sound, rise above the jangle of the guitars to smooth out the rough edges of the pounding electricity.

The History

Brothers in Stereo was formed in April 2003 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, when Andrew and Chris were both working on solo albums. They were in the same studio using the same musicians, and even had the same producer. The situation soon revealed a better idea: unite as a duo. With a little reworking in the studio, their debut album was released in June 2003 to critical raves and amazing response from the public.

The Band

Behind the drum kit and singing high harmony for Brothers In Stereo is cousin Barry LeDrew, who is crucial to the band’s success. He sings like a bird, pounds the drums ferociously, and keeps the brothers in line as only a relative can. Dominic Sutherland rounds out the band on bass guitar. The youngest of the four musicians, he has a nice punchy style and can really lock in with Barry to lay down a solid rock and roll beat.

Accolades

Brothers In Stereo have a long list of awards and nominations to their credit, seeing that they have been around less than two years as a band. In November 2003 they received the Galaxie Rising Star Award for $5,000 at the Music Industry Association of Newfoundland Awards (MIANL). They have three ECMA nominations under their belt, two in 2004 for Pop Group and Best New Group, and one in 2005 for Group of the Year. They also won the National Songwriting competition (regional segment) in 2004 and 2005.

Live

From June 2003 to the present, the brothers have clocked thousands of kilometers in their desire to introduce the masses to their songs. They’ve toured through Ontario several times, once opening for Great Big Sea at the Molson Amphitheatre for 6,000 people. They’ve traveled through Atlantic Canada too many times to count, and have loyal fans at every stop. They once zigzagged 1,200 kilometers through Newfoundland in one day so they could fulfill engagements. A hard-working and driven band, Brothers In Stereo are prepared to do what it takes to get the music heard.
